Fundamentals of Power System OT Cybersecurity
This course introduces the critical aspects of cybersecurity for power systems, emphasizing Operational Technology (OT) and its interfaces with SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of cybersecurity architectures using the Purdue Model, delve into security assurance levels, and analyze the specific cyber threats and vulnerabilities to power grids. The course covers detailed cyber vulnerability and risk assessments using CVSS scoring and reviews key cybersecurity standards and compliance frameworks including IEC 62443, NIST-SP 800.82, NERC CIP, and NIST CSF 2.0. Moreover, participants will explore strategic frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, and D3FEND, learning how to integrate these into organizational security practices to maintain compliance and enhance security.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand Cybersecurity Fundamentals
- Implement cyber architecture principles according to the Purdue Model to design and evaluate cybersecurity layers in power systems.
- Learn how to conduct cyber vulnerability and risk assessments using the CVSS scoring system.
- Review and Apply Key Standards and Frameworks in organizational practices: IEC 62443, NIST-SP 800.82, NERC CIP, and NIST CSF 2.0.
- Utilize other frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, and D3FEND to enhance organizational cybersecurity postures and compliance strategies.
